12/27 - Why Will Smith?

First - my opening line. If you know Will Smith, or anyone who knows him and can get him this message, would you and your family consider looking at a modern day "Ten Commandments" script, would you have him contact dean@dreamersempire.com?

OK - 12/27 Why Will Smith?

In truth, I can't recall exactly how he came to mind. But when it did, I was so enamored with it that it felt inspired. Think about him doing a modern day Moses, does it sound right? I'm sure people will feel differently on it, but let me ask this, who do you see as Moses? My gut says its Will, all the way. My favorite Will Smith performance was in "Pursuit of Happyness." He captures so much in that film, especially desperation and humility. The desperation was there for most of the film, and the humility came when he landed the job. Wow, I'm surprised he didn't win an Academy Award for that role.

Another reason is his family values, and his family. I have had Will, Jada and Jaden in the film for quite a while. In truth I didn't know much about Willow until recently and once I saw her perform I knew exactly where she would fit. This family demonstrates what so few in Hollywood have ever done, a cohesive family supporting one another and working together.

April 1 - 2009 "Ben-Hur"

April 1st - 2009   I rented out the Heights Theater in Minneapolis and arranged to have "Ben-Hur"  shown. Why is best explained at my prweb press release. In short, I wanted to let Hollywood know that..

• Many folks like me were sick of driving by 16 screen theaters and not wanting to see one single movie.
• At one time Hollywood wasn't ashamed to make epic movies that were inspiring
• I want to pitch a modern day "Ten Commandments" movie that I've been working on for 17 years.

180 people came for the show and we were all amazed that audiences can clap together, laugh, cry and leave the theater inspired and happy.

This year I wrote the film in summary form and have received some expert coaching from a writer who is encouraging me to keep pursuing this, she thinks I have a good story.

*Now there is a lot of in between that event and this blog, but to cut to the end (and then fill in the middle) I just discovered that the actor I had in mind for Moses, Will Smith, is looking for a movie concept to do with his family. And that is EXACTLY what I have been doing with my script. So in the coming posts you'll find out the purpose of this blog is ..
